Off-ice workouts at home

How to start, log and finish an off-ice workout on the Train page, and how it counts towards your child's goals.

For families, players

The orange Train button opens the Train page. At the top, Up next is the one workout to do now, with Start: what the coaches set first, then today's plan, the next programme session, or a workout for your child's goals. Or instead offers a couple of others. Further down are the rest: exercises picked for their goals, anything their coaches have set for the team, and a library of exercises with video demos.

What is on the page

  • For your goals: short workouts built from exercises for your child's goal skills.
  • Routines and programmes the team or club has set. A programme is a few weeks of sessions that ask a little more each week.
  • This week: workouts and time, with no streaks.
  • Exercise library, New routine to build your own, and Recent workouts.
  • For netminders, a card with goalie sessions and exercises.

Do a workout

  1. Press Start under Up next, or a start button on one of the cards. If you have more than one child, choose who is training first.
  2. Work through each exercise. Each set shows the target and last time's numbers. Tick the set when it is done.
  3. Timed holds count you in with 3, 2, 1. A rest timer runs between sets, with Next up showing what's coming, then Get ready… counts five seconds to Go!
  4. When you are done, press Finish workout, choose How did it feel? (Easy, Just right or Hard), add a note for the coach if you like, then Save workout.
Logging a workout set by set on a phone. New personal bests are starred.

The screen stays awake while you train. If you lose signal, the workout is saved on the phone and uploads by itself next time you open Train with a connection. A workout you leave half way is kept, so you can carry on.

A workout with exercises for a goal's skill counts as practice on that goal, so you do not need to log it twice.
