Most players are under 16. The app is built so the people who need to see something can, and nobody else.
Families see their own child. Coaches see their teams. A player with their own login sees only themselves. Enforced by the database on every request, not by hiding a button.
Questions clubs and parents ask
What is RinkTracker?
An app for junior ice hockey clubs in the UK. Coaches score each player's skills against the club's written levels, set goals from the scores, and coach from video. Families practise at home and see the progress. The club runs the schedule, the registers and its safeguarding records in the same place.
Who is it for?
Junior clubs and academies with teams from U10 to U19: club admins, head coaches, coaches, team managers, the safeguarding lead, parents and, from 13 with a parent's consent, players themselves.
Do families need to download anything?
No. RinkTracker runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer. You can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. Signing in is by a link sent to your email, so there is no password to forget.
Does it work at a rink with no signal?
Yes for scoring. Scores and coach notes save on the phone and send themselves when the signal comes back. A badge shows what is still waiting. Workouts logged at home without a connection upload the next time Train is opened online.
Are children ranked against each other?
No. There are no leaderboards anywhere. A player is scored against the club's written description of each level and their own previous score. Team views show averages, not rankings.
Who can see my child's information?
You see your own child. Coaches and team managers see the teams they're assigned to. Club admins, head coaches and the safeguarding lead see the club. Other families never see your child's scores, goals, notes or medical details. The database enforces this on every request, not just the screens.
Where is the data kept?
The club's records are stored in London, encrypted and kept separate for each club. Video is hosted by our video provider, Mux, and emails go through an EU email service. The club accepts a data processing agreement before any child's data goes in, and a parent can download or ask the club to erase their child's data.
Can parents message coaches in the app?
No. Announcements go one way, from staff to families, with no replies or direct messages, in line with IHUK's social media policy for junior players.
Can we bring our teams in from EIHStats?
Yes. A club admin can import teams, rosters, fixtures and game stats from EIHStats, or upload a roster as a spreadsheet.
How long does it take to set up?
A club can be scoring the same week it starts. The club admin accepts the agreement, adds teams and rosters, invites the coaches and sends families an invitation or a rink code. A demo academy with three invented teams is there to try everything first.
