Safeguarding statement

We build RinkTracker to support clubs in meeting Ice Hockey UK's safeguarding and social media policies. The club remains responsible for safeguarding its players; our job is to make the safe way the easy way, and never to get in the way of a welfare officer.

• No private messages. Announcements go one way, from staff to families. There are no direct messages between adults and children, in line with IHUK's social media policy.
• Parents in the loop. Children under 13 have no login. Players 13 and over get one only with a parent's consent, and families see everything their child sees.
• Need to know. Coaches see only their teams. Medical details are seen only by club staff and the child's family. SEND support a parent shares is seen only by the child's own coaches, the head coaches and the welfare officer. The database enforces this on every request.
• No ranking. No leaderboards, no public profiles, no comparing children with each other.
• Video by consent. Video of a child is used only as the family has agreed, and plays through links that expire.
• A record of access. Every view and export of a child's record is logged for the club to check.
• Vetting and training records. The club's safeguarding lead can see whose DBS check or safeguarding training is missing or due.

RinkTracker staff who could see club data are bound by confidentiality, see it only to give support the club asks for, and complete safeguarding training. Our support tools are built so they don't show children's records by default.
