Off-ice training

Ten minutes at home, logged against the goal

144 off-ice exercises with video demos, workouts picked for each child's goals, follow-along mode for younger players, a weekly plan with no streaks, and progress measured only against the player's own earlier workouts.

Start a workout, never a blank page

Start a workout offers what's planned for today, what the coaches have set, the next session of a programme, short workouts built from the skills in the child's goals, and quick picks. Or Build your own: tick a few exercises and start. Every exercise has a video demo, steps and why it helps on the ice.

  • 144 exercises

From power and core to mobility and stick skills, across eight kinds.

  • Counts as practice

A workout with a goal's exercises counts towards that goal.

An exercise page: the video demo, the goals it counts towards and how to do it.

Follow along, rep by rep

Follow-along mode is on by default for U10 and U12: big buttons, Tap for each rep, Hold it! on timed holds, and How did it feel? at the end. A ten-second countdown starts each new exercise, with +10 seconds and I'm ready. While resting, Next up shows the demo and target for what's coming, then Get ready… counts down five seconds to Go!

  • Bodyweight first

U10 and U12 train with bodyweight only. Weights start at U14, and there is no one-rep max.

  • Hear how

Any exercise can be read aloud mid-workout.

  • No signal needed

A workout logged offline uploads next time Train opens with a connection.

A weekly plan without streaks

Families choose which days suit and what to do on them. The plan shows today's workout on the planned days, and nothing is ever marked as missed. Coaches can set routines with a due date, and families can turn on a reminder for the time they choose, sent only on a planned day and only if nothing is logged yet.

The week's off-ice plan on a phone: rest days and training days, with no streaks.

Progress against their own earlier self

Training progress shows workouts and minutes this season, each week's work, the body worked and new personal bests. A best only appears once an exercise has been done twice, because the first time sets the starting point. Ready for a step up suggests what to try next. Nobody else's numbers are ever shown.

Coaches see the work, and say well done

Coaches see who is training and each player's workouts, can give a thumbs-up or a comment on any of them, and set routines and programmes for the team: 17 built-in routines and 9 programmes, or their own. Team views show totals, never a ranking.

  • For the focus skills

Off-ice work for the team's lowest skills at the last check, ready to set.

  • Badges

First workout, a full week, halfway there and programme finished.
