Set and review goals

Turn a player's scores into two or three goals, which the family can start on straight away, then review each goal on a regular cycle.

About 15 minutes 6 steps
01

Open the team's goals board

Go to Teams and press Goals and practice on the team's card. The board shows Players with goals, Quiet at home, Practised this week and Reviews due.

Set goals for the whole team in one go

When players have scores but no goals, Goals from the ratings suggests goals for each of them. They come from skills below the band or age expectation, skills that dropped, and one strength to build on. Each suggestion shows why it was picked and a drill where the library has one.

  1. Read down the suggestions.
  2. Press Set these goals for N players.
03

Or set goals for one player

  1. Open the player's page and press Set a goal.
  2. Tick the suggested goals you want and press Set ticked goals.
  3. To write one yourself, open Write your own goal: the goal, its skill, a target score and how. Tick off-ice exercises to attach, or leave them and the app picks the best four.
  4. Press Add goal.

The family starts straight away

Families see the goals on their child's page as soon as you set them, with any drills and off-ice exercises attached. There's nothing for them to sign off: they can start practising the same day.

05

Watch practice at home

The board shows practice this week and over the last 14 days, the player's own rating and yours. Quiet at home means nothing logged for two weeks. Treat it as a prompt for a word with the family, not a mark against them.

06

Review a goal when it's due

  1. On the player's page, open the goal and press Review this goal.
  2. Under How is it going? choose Not yet, Getting there, Most of the time or Got it.
  3. Add a Spot check (optional) from 1 to 10 if it helps. It is not a window score.
  4. Write a note. Leave Share this review with the family ticked if you want them to see it.
  5. Tick Goal achieved: close it if they've got there, then press Save review.

The next review date moves on by your club's review cycle.
